Nintendo has just announced that they are teaming up, yet again, with Koei Tecmo's Omega Force to develop a brand-new hack and slash title in the form of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity; a prequel to the critically acclaimed The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is not an expansion to the original Hyrule Warriors, but it does bring back all of the elements from its predecessor in regards to gameplay, so this is a hack and slash action game, and not a game that focuses on exploration.

With that said, the developers have confirmed that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is in canon, and is actually taking place 100 years before the events in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild — unlike the original Hyrule Warriors, which is not considered to be canon at all.

Producer Eiji Aonuma and the developers at Koei Tecmo's Omega Force have revealed that they have been working closely to make Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity a game that feels like it's a proper prequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

While the game is still a hack and slash, it does feature the same art style seen in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and the story will likely be told in the same way that flashbacks were told; in terms of presentation, of course, since this time these will not be flashbacks, but the actual story of the Calamity unfolding.

The best news is that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity already has an official release date, and is expected to launch exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on Friday the 20th of November, so players won't have to wait long to get their hands on this new title.

It is also worth mentioning that pre-orders for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity are currently open, at least for the digital version, on Nintendo's official website for the game, which you can visit by clicking right here, or by looking up the game on the Nintendo Switch eShop.

Below, we have shared both the trailer for Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and the announcement by the producer and developers of the upcoming game, so be sure to check it out down below and let us know your thoughts on this phenomenal announcement.
