Nintendo has recently shared, via the Nintendo Switch news feed, a list with the Top 25 most-downloaded games on the Nintendo Switch eShop during 2019 — as we're only but a few days away from 2020 to arrive.
Before we begin, it is worth mentioning that list is actually including titles that weren't necessarily released in 2019; still, most titles on the list are games that did become available this year.
According to Nintendo's list, Epic Games'
Fortnite is the most-downloaded game of 2019 — after the popular battle royale title was finally released for the Nintendo Switch this July. This is, however, to be expected since Fortnite is a free-to-play title; without taking away from the game itself, and its popularity, of course.
Unsurprisingly, the second most-downloaded game of the year is Nintendo and Bandai Namco's
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate; a game that was released in December of last year, and has managed to keep players coming back as the developers keep adding more content.
What is surprising is the fact that House House's
Untitled Goose Game, a charming indie game where players play as a goose, has managed to make the top 5, especially since the game was only released in September; becoming an instant hit overnight.
