The best handheld video game console available on the market today is the Nintendo Switch and more reasons than one. However, what if you could run Android on the device and enjoy many of the benefits the Google operating system has to offer, would you do it?
Well, it is possible thanks to folks via XDA Developers who worked tirelessly to get the job done. By installing Android on the Nintendo Switch, it simply means that users will now get the chance to run Netflix, YouTube, Spotify, and other cool apps.
We understand that the version of Android folks can install is an unofficial port of LineageOS. It’s the same operating system found on the Nvidia Shield TV set-top-box, which means, users, can play several games from the Nvidia store should they wish.
Now, as expected, certain features do not work as intended, at least for now. From what we have gathered so far, the JoyCon only works in Bluetooth mode, and there is no DRM, therefore, playing Netflix in HD is not possible.
Additionally, there is no support for sleep mode, which means, battery life should decrease. Also, since the Nintendo Switch doesn’t have GPS, users will not be able to use apps that require the feature.
Wi-Fi may stop working now and again. The best way to rectify the issue is to reboot the device.
