It seems that Nintendo may be considering to finally release a Super Nintendo app for their Nintendo Switch Online service, much like they did with the Nintendo Entertainment System app; providing subscribers with a pair of wireless NES controllers.
A recent patent filed in the Federal Communications Commission(FCC) has revealed a wireless Super Nintendo-esque controller, which would allegedly connect to an unnamed device via Bluetooth —
as first spotted by ResetEra user Link83.
An interesting detail is that the FCC ID is BKE HAC-042, and the HAC prefix is the one that Nintendo has been using exclusively for wireless Nintendo Switch products; suggesting that this wireless Super Nintendo controller will be compatible with the handheld hybrid console.
This also raises the question: Is Nintendo finally going to be adding a Super Nintendo app? While the patent filed in the FCC doesn't go into details about the product itself, this is likely the case — although it is best not to jump to conclusions just yet and wait for an official announcement from Nintendo.
