It's best to take these news with a pinch of salt because a new rumour has been doing the rounds lately, suggesting that
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be getting characters from the id Software's original
DOOM and Square Enix's
Super Mario RPG.
The leak is actually gameplay footage of some Mii fighters wearing a Cacodemon(
DOOM) and a Mallow(
Super Mario RPG) hat. Now, this could be thought to be a mod someone made, but the modding community has yet to deliver such quality; especially for
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
In the past, Nintendo has included Mii Fighter gear from other series/characters that aren't necessarily part of the game per se; at least not in the form of an official fighter.
Doomguy from the
DOOM series has been a long-time favourite, and gear based on
Super Mario RPG characters have already made their debut in
Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS. The fact that this is the first time
DOOM gear made its way online, however, would definitely mean that the Doom Slayer could well be the next fighter to be revealed.
With
Super Smash Bros. series creator
Masahiro Sakurai hosting a 45-minute character showcase for Terry Bogard tomorrow, it is very likely that he will also share news about upcoming characters and even costumes for the Mii Fighter, so we will just have to patiently wait and see if this leak turns out to be true.
