Announced in February of this year,
Tetris 99 is a very interesting title that mixes the classic tile-matching gameplay of the original
Tetris with some Battle Royale elements, and what's even more surprising is the fact that it works like a charm.
When
Tetris 99 released, it was a game that was exclusive for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers; just recently becoming available for players to purchase and download digitally from the eShop via the Big Block DLC — which allowed players to play
Tetris 99 offline.
Just recently, Nintendo announced that
Tetris 99 will be getting a physical release that is set to hit store shelves on the
6th of September. The physical release will be including all of the DLC and a 12-month Nintendo Switch Online subscription, retalining for $29.99.
Nintendo also announced that two offline local multiplayer modes will be added to the Big Block DLC, which will allow players to battle in up to 8-player matches with their friends in Local Arena Mode, while two players can engange in a 2-players Share battle using each one Joy-Con.
Release dates for these new game modes has not been revealed, however, but they are both expected to become available at some point later this year.
