According to some new information revealed by retail data that was shared with GamesIndustry.biz, sales for the Nintendo Switch have made Nintendo's handheld hybrid platform the best-selling console in the United Kingdom.
A 30% rise in sales was propelled by the launch of the recently released
Pokémon Sword and
Pokémon Shield, which — according to the information gathered by the people over at GamesIndustry.biz — means a hardware spike of 75% when compared to last week; with over 90,000 consoles sold this month.
Last week also saw the release of the Nintendo Switch Lite Zacian and Zamazenta Edition and, surprisingly enough, the console that has been sold the most is the red boxed Nintendo Switch console; the revision that comes with a better battery.
What's even more fascinating is the fact that the Nintendo Switch has already beat out Sony's PlayStation 4 in the United Kingdom, and it's on its way to end its undefeated five-year reign as the number 1 selling games console.
At launch, the Nintendo Switch had everyone wondering if this console was destined to follow in its predecessor's footsteps and become an absolute flop, but Nintendo has cleverly marketed this new console in order to make it appealing for everyone; so far, they have succeeded with flying colours.
With Black Friday and the Holiday season just around the corner, Nintendo will be selling quite the bunch of Switch and Switch Lite consoles in the coming months, so these sales numbers are bound to keep on growing.
