Ten years ago today, MonolithSoft released Xenoblade Chronicles on the Nintendo Wii, which kickstarted a critically acclaimed series that currently has three games under its belt; a series that has taken players to some of the most beautifully realised open worlds in the genre.
Xenoblade Chronicles X was the second game in the series, and it kept most of the controls and aspects of the open world pretty much intact. The only difference was that this time around players themselves became the protagonists of this story that unfolded before them.
When the Nintendo Switch was first revealed, MonolithSoft surprised fans of the series by revealing that Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was currently in development, and that the game would be launching later in 2017; featuring the same elements seen in the previous games, while also introducing players to a new protagonist.
More recently, players have had the chance to relive the events of Xenoblade Chronicles with the release of its Definitive Edition on the Nintendo Switch — which not only features better graphics and a remastered soundtrack, but is also adding an epilogue episode that could even be a considered a brand-new game in itself.
All four of these games — including the Definitive Edition, of course — hold a special place in the hearts of those who have had the chance to play them. Today — as the developers celebrate the series' 10th anniversary — MonolithSoft has revealed an amazing new artwork that sees main protagonists Shulk, Elma, and Rex brought together.
As per usual, don't forget to open this phenomenal new artwork in a new tab, in order to enjoy the image in high definition, and also leve us a comment down below to let us know what you think of it.
