STEAM Currently Has 14 Million Active Users

Gamers often divide themselves up in terms of their respective gaming console but those days may be numbered as Steam continues to show remarkable growth.

Two days ago, Valve's online gaming distribution platform set a new high for current, active users with over 14.2 million users currently logged in and performing various tasks.  Steam continues to show rapid growth in its 13th year as just last year, the peak number of active users was 10 million and four years ago, the record was 5 million.  However, for some reason the increased number of users hasn't resulted in a concurrent spike in revenue for Valve as they've reported that sales have begun to even out.

To add even more context, Sony announced they sold an estimated 6.2 million PS4 consoles during the 2016 Holiday season. This brings them to a grand total of around 53 million total units sold since its launch in 2013.

Xbox One is apparently rapidly catching up to the PS4, as Microsoft has sold more consoles than Sony over the last few months after a very slow start out of the racing blocks.
