Blizzard is supposedly sending players another future-of-WoW survey, and this one is bigger than a spec tweak poll. German site Chromie posted the questionnaire. Spanish coverage on AlterTime laid out the same feature list. The form asks how interested you are in ideas that would change how characters work, where the game runs, and what the old continents look like.
Multiclassing is the line that will start arguments first. The survey describes it as picking a specialization from another class that then changes your combat rotation. It would probably feel like borrowing a spec identity so that a warrior might fight like it took a slice of paladin using a smite or some self healing, or a hunter rotation picks up something that is not hunter such as charge from a warrior and being a melee survival hunter. But we would need to see more before knowing exactly what it means or looks like.
New classes are on the same form. Blizzard asks about adding three completely new classes, each with specializations that still fit tank, healer, and damage roles the game already uses. It does not name Tinker, Bard, or Spellbreaker this time. Those names showed up on older Chromie-translated surveys. This one is about volume: three full classes, not one hero class locked to two races.
Consoles are listed as their own item in the survey. The text is Xbox and PlayStation, with an interface and features built for those platforms. That is the first time a current survey has put official console WoW next to multiclassing and new dungeons in one packet. Ion Hazzikostas has said before that if the team were actively porting the game, they would say so and announce it. It seems that Blizzard is measuring whether the idea still has heat after years of forum rumors and player questions.
The old world and map is in there too. Players are asked about new dungeons in the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor that tie to events happening in those zones, and about a dynamic world that changes over time instead of sitting still between expansions. There is also a line about a story shaped by community decisions. That sits next to extra roleplay tools: jobs, events, and politics inside the main city, not just more /e dances.
Other boxes in the survey cover in-game ranking tools so you can see how your character stacks against other players across systems, and a wider free trial that unlocks more content and systems without a subscription so that new players can try it for free. Those are the on-ramp questions. They only matter if Blizzard thinks the next audience is people who have never paid for game time, played the game before, or console players who will not install addons.
Surveys like this go out all the time. Mythic+ death counters, healer hunters, tank rogues, and Astrologian concepts have all been on earlier forms. Most of those ideas never shipped. The ones that did, like extra Demon Hunter specs, showed up a few years later with different names. Treat this survey as a temperature check before BlizzCon, and not what is coming in the future.
BlizzCon is just around the corner on September 12 and 13. Retail is in Midnight Season 2. Classic players are staring at Classic+/Camelot rumors. This survey is aimed at the live game’s long-term menu: how you build a character, whether Azeroth’s first two continents get touched again, and whether WoW ever leaves the PC chair. Filling it out does not make multiclassing real. But it could possibly be coming in the future.
Would you actually want a spec from another class on your main, or should WoW stay one class per character? What classes would you multi-class in? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
