Last week, major plot details about Naughty Dog's insanely anticipated The Last of Us Part II were leaked online; ruining pretty much everything there was to know about the game's story, and leaving fans upset about the direction the developer was taking with the series' beloved characters.
Initially, it was thought that the clips and information had been leaked by a disgruntled Naughty Dog employee who had not been paid for their work on the highly anticipated game, but it was later revealed that this was not the case, and the leaker/s were not affiliated with Naughty Dog at all.
Regardless, this was upsetting news for both Naughty Dog and players who had been anticipating the release of The Last of Us Part II. Today, however, we may have some good news for those who are still excited to play the game, as Creative Director Neil Druckmann reassures players that playing the game is a different experience.
As revealed by Druckmann via Naughty Dog's official Instagram account, the first thing he reveals is that the game has now gone gold; meaning that development on The Last of Us Part II is now complete and ready to be shipped.
Druckmann also reassures players that no matter what they may have seen online, on account of the leaked clips and information still roaming the internet, "nothing compares to playing this game[The Last of Us Part II] from beginning to end. It's a video game, you've got to play it."
Five years after their dangerous journey across the post-pandemic United States, Ellie and Joel have settled down in Jackson, Wyoming. As she hunts those responsible one by one, she is confronted with the devastating physical and emotional repercussions of her actions.
The Last of Us Part II is expected to release exclusively for the PlayStation 4 on the 19th of June.
