Final Fantasy VII: Remake was announced at E3 2015 as one of the highlights of that expo. At the time, the remake was developed under the direction of Tetsuya Nomura, the original's character designer, battle visual director and screenwriter, by CyberConnect2, the studio that gave us Naruto: Ultimate Ninja. Three years have passed since the reveal and we still know next to nothing about the remake.
While this isn't quite the official news fans have been waiting for, we got a very small glimpse at the Final Fantasy VII Remake via three images posted by Twitter user bazztek. All development pictures focus on the new version of Cloud Strife, the protagonist of the cult-classic RPG who learns the hard way that there is more to being a true hero than possessing impressive physical strength and fame.
The second picture featuring fireworks might not be from the development version of Remake, but it surely looks like the upgraded version of Midgar, the capital city and main base of the Shinra Electric Power Company, which also operates in genetic engineering, space exploration, and projects its power through a military that includes the elite group SOLDIER. There's a chance that the fanbase won't fall in love with the Cloud redesign, but be sure to make up your mind and check out the images below:
In Midgar, a city controlled by the mega-conglomerate Shinra Inc., the No. 1 Mako Reactor has been blown up by a rebel group, AVALANCHE. AVALANCHE was secretly formed to wage a rebellion against Shinra Inc., an organisation which is absorbing Mako energy, destroying the natural resources of the planet. Cloud, a former member of Shinra's elite combat force, SOLDIER, was involved with the bombing of the Mako Reactor. Can Cloud and AVALANCHE protect the planet from the huge, formidable enemy, Shinra Inc.?
Final Fantasy VII: Remake is currently in development for PlayStation 4 and Square Enix hasn't announced anything officially regarding a release date yet.
