With the PlayStation 5 Pro launching today, EA and Respawn Entertainment have shared what optimizations players who purchase the more powerful console can look forward to with Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. Taking advantage of the new hardware, Jedi: Survivor on PS5 Pro will feature graphical and technical improvements, including higher resolutions and smoother frame rates.
More specifically the PS5 Pro version will feature "visibly higher base resolutions" in both Quality and Performance modes. In Quality mode, you'll be able to retain 4K resolution and ray-traced elements but these have been upscaled from 1800p to 2160p. In Performance mode, it will run at a higher resolution of 1800p -- upscaled from 1200p -- and include raytraced occlusion and reflection while continuing to target 60fps.
Available today, the PlayStation 5 Pro features an upgraded GPU, advanced ray tracing, and PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution. Prior to the new console, developers would often have to sacrifice visual fidelity in order to achieve a higher frame rate or, on the flip side, sacrifice frame rate for improved visual quality. With the PS5 Pro's improved hardware, that's no longer as drastic of a decision.
For those who already started their adventure in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor on the PS4 or standard PS5, you are able to transfer your save data to the PS5 Pro. Here's what Sony says to do:
Before you start the transfer, make sure your original console is updated to the latest system software and you’ve synced your trophy information. On both your original console and your PS5 Pro, sign in on your PlayStation Network account . You can transfer your user information, games downloaded to your console’s hard drive or SSD, save data, and select console settings if both consoles are connected to the same network. Go to Settings > System > System Software, select Data Transfer > Continue then follow the on-screen instructions.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is just one of more than 50-plus games that are receiving enhancements for the PlayStation 5 Pro. Other titles getting updates for the new console include Marvel's Spider-Man 2, The Last of Us Part I and Part II Remastered, God of War Ragnarok, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, EA Sports College Football 25, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.
The PlayStation 5 Pro is now available for purchase with a price tag of $699.99. This is for a disc-free console and one DualSense controller. A disc drive and vertical stand are sold separately.
