STAR WARS: SQUADRONS - Electronic Arts And Motive Studios Release Amazing CG Short Film "Hunted"

Electronic Arts and Motive Studios have just released an amazing, and heart-pounding CG short for Star Wars: Squadrons, which sees an Imperial pilot being chased by members of the Rebel Alliance.

A couple of days ago, Electronic Arts announced that a CG short film based on Motive Studios' upcoming Star Wars: Squadrons would be released this Monday, and that this short movie would be produced by Lucasfilm and ILM.

The announcement also revealed that this short movie would introduce players to one of the ace pilots that will be featured in Star Was: Squadrons, but not much else was actually revealed; leaving everyone wondering who this mysterious pilot could be, and what their role in the game is.

Electronic Arts has kept their promise, and they've just released the action-packed, and heart-pounding "Hunted" CG short film, which actually — and quite succesfully, might I add — manages to make the Rebel Alliance look like a fore to be reckoned with.

Star Wars: Squadrons will be taking place some time after the events of the Battle of Endor, and this short movie does a perfect job giving viewers a pretty good idea of the state in which the Empire is currently at after their defeat. If this is what the developers at Motive Studios have in store for players when the game launches early in October, fans will be in for quite the treat.

Give it a watch:

The Empire demands order. We need you to join the galaxy’s finest.

DRAGON BALL FIGHTERZ: Master Roshi Shows Off His Amazing Skills In New, And Action-Packed Gameplay Trailer

Master Roshi is joining the roster in Arc System Works' Dragon Ball FighterZ later this week, and Bandai Namco has shared an action-packed gameplay trailer to make players excited for his arrival.

Last month, Master Roshi was revealed to be the third character to join the roster in Bandai Namco and Arc System Works' Dragon Ball FighterZ as part of the game's Season 3 — which has already seen Kefla and Ultra Instinct Goku becoming playable characters.

Master Roshi has already been playable in previous games, but this version of Roshi will mostly be based on the one that was recently featured in Dragon Ball Super during the Tournament of Power, so most of his moveset comes from the aforementioned arc.

The developers didn't disclose when Master Roshi would become available, but they did reassure players that it would be at some point in September. Today, however, we may have finally been given an answer, but it seems Bandai Namco can't make up their mind on this.

Well, the good news is that Master Roshi is becoming available this week, as Bandai Namco releases an action-packed trailer that shows off the Turtle Hermit in all of his immortal glory, but the trailer itself mentions that he's joining Dragon Ball FighterZ on Friday the 18th of September.

Similarly, the trailer's descrption mentions that Master Roshi will actually become available this Wednesday the 16th of September. Whatever the case, Dragon Ball FighterZ players who have purchased Season 3 will be granted access to Master Roshi later this week.

After the success of the Xenoverse series, it’s time to introduce a new classic 2D DRAGON BALL fighting game for this generation’s consoles. DRAGON BALL FighterZ is born from what makes the DRAGON BALL series so loved and famous: endless spectacular fights with its allpowerful fighters.

Unfortunately, no details were shared regarding the launch details of PlayStation 5 version of the game, but Sony is hosting a special livestream this week focused on the next-gen console, so it's possible we could see more of Godfall there as well. Additionally, assets for the pre-order tiers and bonuses shared by Gearbox also featured images of the PlayStation 5 editions and it looks to be similar.

In the meantime, check out the new gameplay trailer revealed during PAX. The trailer offers our best look yet at th fast-paced melee combat of Godfall, putting an emphasis on exploiting your enemies' weak points. Ascend in Godfall, the first-of-its-kind, looter-slasher, melee action-RPG.

STAR WARS: SQUADRONS - Electronic Arts Announces That A CG Short Will Be Released On Monday

Electronic Arts has just announced that a CG short film for Motive Studios' upcoming Star Wars: Squadrons will be released on Monday, which will introduce players to one of the game's ace pilots.

Whenever a Star Wars game is released, fans of the series always get excited; all of this in spite of the many disappointments that they have had in recent years, especially those that come from Electronic Arts, and their questionable practices in regards to microtransactions and lootboxes.

Thankfully, Electronic Arts has seemingly learnt from their past mistakes, and the recent Star Wars games they have published reflect the vision that the develoeprs always had for their games; Respawn Entertainment's critically acclaimed Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is proof of it.

It isn't just Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order that has players excited for the future of Star Wars games, since it really seems like Motive Studios' upcoming Star Wars: Squadrons will also deliver quite a unique experience; one that the developers themselves claim is the most immersive Star Wars experience yet.

Star Wars: Squadrons will finally be released worldwide in a bit over three weeks from today, and the developers have shared quite a bunch of information about the game already; everything they've shared, so far, has been received with nothing but praise and enthusiasm.

Since the game may be a few weeks away from releasing, Electronic Arts has revealed that a CG short film for the game will be released on Monday the 14th of September at 8:00 AM Pacific Time / 12: 00PM Eastern Time / 4:00 PM British Summer Time / 5:00 PM Central European Summer Time.

According to the short description, the upcoming CG short, will introduce players to one of the ace pilots that will fly alongside players in Star Wars: Rogue Squadrons. What's more, this CG short is being produced by both Motive Studios, Lucasfilm, and ILM, so we should expect it to be of top quality.

PLAYSTATION 5: Sony Has Confirmed That A Special Presentation Will Be Livestreamed Next Wednesday

Sony has confirmed that a special presentation will be livestreamed next Wednesday, where it is expected that the company reveals even more details about the highly anticipated PlayStation 5.

Sony has kept players highly anticipating news about their next-gen console, the PlayStation 5, and while they have shared quite a bunch of information about it, they still have some important details to share; starting with its release date.

Microsoft has just recently revealed the price for both the Xbox Series X and its low-end counterpart, the Xbox Series S, and we have yet to hear news from Sony in regards to the highly anticipated PlayStation 5.

Fortunately, Sony has just announced that a special presentation, which will focus entirely on the PlayStation 5, will be livestreamed next Wednesday the 16th of September at 1:00 PM Pacific Time / 5:00 PM Eastern Time / 6: 00 PM Central European Summer Time / 5: 00 PM British Summer Time.

Sony doesn't mention exactly what is it that they will be sharing, but it is fair to expect an official release date, and a price reveal that will hopefully not make players go broke. It would also be great if the company reveals whether the PlayStation 5 will be backwards compatible with previous consoles or not.

At this point, it is also possible that they will confirm which games will be available on day one. MARVEL's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a day one relese, but what about Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart? Could players also see Gran Turismo 7 releasing on launch day? Will Sony or other developers announce more games on Wednesday? We'll just have to patiently wait and see for ourselves.

CRASH BANDICOOT 4: IT'S ABOUT TIME Gets A New Trailer To Remind Players About The Game's Demo

Activision and developer Vicarious Visions have released a new trailer for Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, letting players know that the game's demo will be available in a few more days.

On Firday the 2nd of October, the latest entry in the Crash Bandicoot series, Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, will finally be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, giving players to reconnect with the series that many thought had been abaondoned by the developers.

Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time is a direct sequel to Crash Bandicoot: Warped, and it is bringing back all of the elements that made the original trilofy such memorable games. Of course, not everything is a carbon copy, since the developers at Vicarious Visions have added new mechanics to keep things fresh, albeit familiar.

Activision and Vicarious Visions have also revealed that players will be able to try out the game for themselves before it officially comes out, as they have revealed that a demo for Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time will be available next week; on Wednesday the 16th of September, to be more precise.

There is a caveat, though, since the Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time demo will only be available for players who choose to pre-order a digital of the upcoming title; thus defeating the entire purpose of a demo, which exists only to convince players to purchase games in the first place.

While these practices are questionable, it seems like players will still get all of their money's worth with this new Crash Bandicoot game. Whatever the case, the developers have shared a trailer today — letting everybody know that the demo will be available next week, and showing off what it will be including.

Take a look:

Picking up where the original trilogy left off, Neo Cortex and DR. Nefarious Tropy have escaped their interdimensional prison and in doing so have fractured the boundaries of time and space. It's up to Crash and Coco to save the day.

A new update to the mobile game StoneAge World brings in new seasonal events and tons of other goodies. Hit the jump to see more details on the autumn update!

Netmarble's StoneAge World brings together a world of pet collecting and RPG in a way that has never been seen. Since its release, the game has been a massive hit for fans who are interested in a prehistoric themed game that brings a unique gameplay challenge.

As with all mobile games, seasonal events are a given; however, what makes this game different is that the events can sometimes center around specific families of dinosaurs. For example, this month's autumn event, which will run until Sept. 24th., gives players a chance to Ramir and Veldor pets. The former can be found on the second floor of Ayu’s Cave while the latter is located on the second floor of the Forest Cave. Thankfully, the balances between all families have been updated to accommodate everything.

Manmo Lucky Tickets are another new and exciting update to the game; for those that have three trainers after scratching the ticket can now pick from an array of fantastic prizes. The highest level to win (six trainers) can see players receive S~S+ level of 4★ Pet Exchange Ticket! It is also important to note that the new update will include a 50% sale on Pet Training Stones and Modify Pet Growth Rate Stones.

Stone Discount Events will also be held for players that are looking to grow new pets. We would love to hear your thoughts on the update in the usual spot!

StoneAge World takes the concept of pet-collection and role-playing game (RPG) mechanics and seamlessly blends them together with a delightful and venturesome MMO experience set in a whimsically inspired take on prehistoric societies. Set in the land of Tectonika, players will embrace the role of “Trainer,” a powerful warrior who collects, tames, and trains pets to protect the land from enemies. With over 270 pets including dinosaurs, wooly mammoths, pigs, wolves and more, players will have their hands full defending Tectonika against unknown enemies from the up-and-coming Machine Civilization and exploring the unique quirks of prehistoric society.

SUPER MARIO 3D ALL-STARS: Retailer In The UK Reportedly Cancels Pre-Orders Due To "Woefully Short" Allocation

According to new information from around the web, UK retailer Base has cancelled all of pre-orders for Super Mario 3D All-Stars , and the reason is because allocation is allegedly "woefully short."

Super Mario 3D All-Stars is the collection that was rumoured pretty much all year, and that Nintendo finally, and officially announced during a special Super Mario 35th Anniversary Direct presentation. The game is a collection that includes all of the 3D games in the Super Mario Bros. series; well, except for the best-selling Super Mario Galaxy 2, for some reason.

With Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy, the recently announced Super Mario 3D All-Stars is just what players had been asking for, but there is one problem; Nintendo has revealed that this game is actualyl a limited release.

That's right. Super Mario 3D All-Stars will release both digitally and physically next Friday the 18th of September, but it will only be available until next year on Wednesday the 31st of March ; this also goes to both the physical and digital version, so it isn't like Nintendo has made the physical release limited, the game itself is a limited release.

The fact that the game is a limited release, has had players already pre-ordering their physical copy of Super Mario 3D All-Stars, and the latest bit of information doing the rounds has revealed some very disappointing news.

According to a post shared on Resetera, UK retailer Base has had to cancel all pre-orders for Super Mario 3D All-Stars, and this is due to allocation being woefully short.

"We have just been notified of our allocation of Super Mario 3D All-Stars (Nintendo Switch) and it is woefully short. This is very disappointing and it is with great regret that we have to inform you that we will be unable to fulfil you order on the day of release. Further, as Nintendo and their UK distributers [sic] are unable to give us any reassurance that more stock will become available after release, we have taken the regrettable decision to cancel all orders," reads the message sent by Base.

What makes things worse is the fact that scalpers are likely the ones who will be able to get hold of thes limited physical copies of Super Mario 3D All-Stars. This is not new, as it has happened in the past, and Nintendo keeps announcing these games as limited releases; knowing that they will be hard to come by on launch day.

Even more aggravating is the fact that it appears that supplies for Super Mario 3D All-Stars are ridiculously limited if a retailer has already had to have all pre-orders cancelled; we don't even know how many copies they mean by "woefully short," but them cancelling pre-orders is quite concerning. Nintendo better sort this yesterday.

Three Mario adventures in one collection jumps on to Nintendo Switch! With HD visuals, take Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy on the go in Super Mario 3D All-Stars. The collection arrives September 18 as a limited release until the end of March 2021.

Ahead of the inevitable release, the Xbox Series X and S will be the first consoles to include Dolby Atmos and Vision. Hit the jump for more information on the groundbreaking news!

The next generation of consoles is fast approaching, and that means that the console wars are about to reignite! For some time now, it has seemed that Sony's PS5 has had the edge with exclusives and upgrades at no cost; however, something is brewing in the world of Microsoft.

In a recent announcement that can be found on the Dolby official Twitter, the Xbox Series X and S will be the first-ever consoles to include both Dolby Vision and Atmos! Being that this has never been done before, this shows Microsoft's desire to innovate to compete rather than match their competition.

With the best sound and visual quality packed into the console, this no doubt will raise many questions such as how gaming will be affected or moreso how watching TV and film will be improved. According to Dolby, their Vision component will include additions such as "40x brighter highlights," "10x deeper black levels," and "up to 12-bit color depth"!

Has this tipped the scale in favor of the Xbox? Only time will tell! Make sure to share your thoughts in the comments, and don't forget to check out the official announcement below!

PRINCE OF PERSIA: THE SANDS OF TIME's Controversial Art Style Is Deliberate, Ubisoft Has Recently Revealed

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was revealed by Ubisoft yesterday, and the reception from fans was quite negative due to its controversial art style; Ubisoft reveals that this was a deliberate decision.

It had been rumoured for a while, but yesterday Ubisoft made the announcement official: Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is making a comeback in the form of a remake, and will release for consoles in January of next year. While this should've been exciting news, fans didn't react positively to the announcement.

As it turns out, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time really is a remake of the original game that launched in 2003, and the remake got a lot of criticism from fans due to its unpolished graphics. To be a little bit more precise, fans complained that it is characters themselves the ones that are poorly designed.

Ubisoft has recently revealed that the game's controversial new art style is pretty deliberate, and it was chosen because it will make characters and the game itself stand out; well, they're not wrong there, as they did stood out.

"If you take the game that was made 17 years ago, there's definitely room for improvement in terms of graphism and we really wanted to give a unique look to the game because Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is actually is a fantasy story," reveals Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Game Director Pierre Sylvain-Gires in an interview with The Mako Reactor.

"The narration, the 40 different levels you have to go through to finish the game are an immersion into the Thief of Baghdad and all these magical environments. So we decided to go for a unique visual treatment to make this game stand out from other games. It's not another Assassin's Creed, it's not like the same Prince of Persia from 2008. It has to be unique. This magic, this fantasy is shown through the saturation, through the light, so it also a challenge to redefine the visual identity of the game with this remake," Sylvain-Gires explained.

Again, it only seems to be the designs and animations for the characters in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time that has fans up in arms, since everything else does looks fairly decent — particularly the game's environments; the problem is that characters shouldn't look like they're from a previous generation of consoles.

With that said, this goes beyoned the art style. This Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time remake looks unpolished, and unappealing. Ubisoft still has got some time to work on the graphics, but Sylvain-Gires' comments on the matter sound like an excuse; deliberate or not.

Embark on a journey as the Prince to prevent the powerful Sands of Time from falling into the hands of the treacherous Vizier. Master the Sands of Time and use your dagger to control time itself. Fight cursed enemies and solve puzzles along the way.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time will release for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on Thursday the 21st of January, 2021.

Released in episodes in Japan, the delay caused a wait for western audiences who stream the series on Netflix.
SUPER MARIO BROS. Is The Best Video Game Franchise According To North American Players

According to a recent study conducted by National Today, 47% of North American players believe that Nintendo's popular Super Mario Bros. series is the best video game franchise.

Video games have bee naround for quite a while now. The popular media saw it's humble beginnings in the 1940s, and these days it has turned into an industry that rivals that of film and television — which is to be expected, as they are all about entertaining the consumer.

Tomorrow is National Video Game Day in North America, and a recent study conducted by National Today has revealed some very interesting facts about the video game industry, and what types of games North American players are more likely to be drawn to.

National Today's survey has revealed that 47% of North American players consider that Nintendo's critically acclaimed, best-selling, and popular Super Mario Bros. series is the best video game franchise out there. For further reference, the survey's sample size consisted of a total of 1,000 participants.

Interestingly enough, 54% of all participants revealed that they played video games multiple times per week, so Super Mario Bros. being voted the best video game franchise actually includes both regular and casual players, which is quite fitting for a game from a company that specifically caters to all demographics alike.

Even more interesting is the fact that participatns revealed that Nintendo isn't even their preferred video game console. According to the results, the participants' console of choice is a tie between PlayStation and Xbox(38%), while only a 21% of respondents voted Nintendo.

The second most-voted video game franchise by participants was Call of Duty with a 21% of votes, and closely followed by Donkey Kong and Grand Theft Auto(both tied with a 19%), and the fifth place goes to the Pokémon series voted by a 16% of the participants.

1) Super Mario Bros. (47%)
2) Call of Duty (21%)
3) Donkey Kong (19%)
4) Grand Theft Auto (19%)
5) Pokémon (16%)
6) The Legendf of Zelda (13%)
7) Sonic the Hedgehog (13%)
8) Final Fantasy (9%)
9) Halo (9%)

The anime adaptation of the popular Dragon's Dogma video game is only a week away from releasing, and Netflix has shared the opening credits sequence to get fans excited.

It's been well over a year since Netflix and Capcom teamed up to produce an anime series based on the popular Dragon's Dogma video game. No tentative release date was shared at the time of the announcement, but the news itself was enough to get fans excited.

Just this year, Netflix has begun sharing more information about the upcomign anime series; from the cast of actors and actresses that will be bringing the characters to live, to trailers that give fans a glimpse of what's to come once the show finally becomes available.

A few months ago, in fact, Netflix finally revealed that Dragon's Dogma is set to begin streaming on the popular platform next Thursday the 17th of September, and a few weeks ago, we also got a first official trailer for the highly anticipated anime series.

Dragon's Dogma will consist of 7 episodes, but Netflix still hasn't confirmed whether we will be getting all 7 of them next week, or if they will be released one episode at a time, although it is more than likely that we will be getting all episodes at once.

For those of you who just can't wait for the series to drop, Netflix has recently shared the opening credits sequence. As it is to be expected from Netflix productions, we don't really get any footage from the series itself, but it is still a pretty awesome opening.

Have a look:

Based on a world-famous action RPG set in an open world, Dragon’s Dogma from CAPCOM will be brought to life as a Netflix original anime series. The story follows a man’s journey seeking revenge on a dragon who stole his heart. On his way, the man is brought back to life as an ‘Arisen’. An action adventure about a man challenged by demons who represent the seven deadly sins of humans.

Dragon's Dogma will begin streaming, exclusively on Netflix, on Thursday the 17th of September.

MONKEY BALL Voice Actor Hints At A New Title In The Series Being Announced Later This Month

Monkey Ball voice actor Brian Matt has recently hinted t a brand-new entry in the series being developed by Sega. What's more, he seems to reveal that an announcement could be made as soon as this month.

It seems like Sega is working on a brand-new entry in the popular Monkey Ball series, and the announcement is allegedly expected to be made at some point later this month. At least that's what a mysterious post by one of the games' voice actors has seemingly hinted at.

The information comes from voice actor Brian Matthew Uhl, who has voiced the announcer in several titles in the Monkey Ball series, and has recently shared a post on his Instagram account; where he is seen playing Super Monkey Ball on a friend's Nintendo Switch.

Where things get iteresting is when he seemingly hints at a new Monkey Ball title, mentioning that he needs to "stop shouting 'Ready, Go!'," and that it will all make sense later on; revealing that September "will be amazing for what's to come," and tagging Sega and the official Instagram account for Monkey Ball, amongst others.

In October of last year, Sega released Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz, which is actually a remaster of the original Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz, but that's technically the latest entry that has been released.

Sega also revealed that they were open to the idea of remastering more games in the Monkey Ball series, so what Brian Matthew Uhl is teasing could well be another remaster and not a brand-new game.

This is obviously a tease of sorts, but we will still have to keep waiting for Sega to make any announcements official. Whatever the case, this is great news for fans of the series who have been itching for a new Monkey Ball game; regardless if it is a remaster or not.

CRYSIS REMASTERED: Crytek Shares Short Clip That Shows Off Ray Tracing Running On Consoles

Crytek has shared a short clip for the soon-to-be-released Crysis Remastered, giving players an idea of what to expect in terms of graphical enhancements, and showing off Ray Tracing.

When it was rumoured that Crytek was working on a remastered version of the critically acclaimed Crysis, fans of the long-running series were pretty excited to see one of the most graphically demanding video games in history, getting an even more graphically demanding update.

Unfortunately — or fortunately, depending on the context — the announcement trailer for the game leaked before Crytek officially released it, and it was a disaster; fans complained that the remaster barely qualified for a remaster, and they weren't really exaggerating.

Crytek decided to delay the release of Crysis Remastered, although the Nintendo Switch version — yes, the game was also announced for Nintendo's portable device — was still being released on the date they initially intended for the remaster to launch on every other platform.

Surprisingly enough, Crysis Remastered on the Nintendo Switch was a huge success, and the game really looks phenomenal on a portable device — which is something never could've ever predicted, and made fans excited to see what the developer is capable of doing with the game on other platforms.

Crysis Remastered is releasing for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC next Friday the 18th of September, and this remaster looks quite sharp. In fact, the game is bringing Tray Racing to current-gen consoles for the first time ever, and a new clip released by Crytek will give players a better idea of what to expect when the game finlly becomes available next week.

Take a look:

What begins as a simple rescue mission becomes the battleground of a new war as alien invaders swarm over a North Korean island chain. Armed with a powerful Nanosuit, players can become invisible to stalk enemy patrols, or boost strength to lay waste to vehicles. The Nanosuit’s speed, strength, armor, and cloaking allow creative solutions for every kind of fight, while a huge arsenal of modular weaponry provides unprecedented control over play style. In the ever-changing environment, adapt tactics and gear to dominate your enemies, in an enormous sandbox world.

Crysis Remastered is currently available for the Nintendo Switch; PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions expected to launch on Friday the 18th of September.

STAR WARS: SQUADRONS Creative Director Confirms That The Upcoming Title Has Already Gone Gold

Star Wars: Squadrons Creative Director Ian S. Frazier has recently revealed that the upcoming title has already gone gold, and is ready to be shipped.

Star Wars: Squadrons is Motive Studios and Electronic Arts' brand-new space-combat action game set in the universe of Star Wars, and the developers have promised that the upcoming title will give players an immersive experience like no other before — which is quite exciting for fans of the series.

Today, the game's Creative Director Ian S. Frazier has got some pretty great news for those anticipating the release, as he reveals that Star Wars: Squadrons has officially gone gold; meaning that the game is ready to be shipped, and that it won't be delayed.

Star Wars: Squadrons has been revealed to be a multiplayer game, but this shouldn't really discourage fans of the series from getting it, since Motive Studios has also included a single-player campaign that will see players experiencing both sides of the war as the Rebellion and the Empire.

After the release of Respawn Entertainment's critically acclaimed Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, fans of the series have been more than willing to give Electronic Arts another chance — as long as they don't get too involved in the development of the games, that is — and like Respawn Entertainment's game, Star Wars: Squadrons is also Motive Studios' own, unaltered vision.

From what we have seen from the trailers and gameplay previews, the developers at Motive Studios have done a phenomenal job with Star Wars: Squadrons, and is nice to know that the game is ready to hit store shelves in just a mere three weeks from today.

CYANIDE AND HAPPINESS: We Talk With The Creators Of The New Switch Game FREAKPOCALYPSE

The creators of Cyanide and Happiness have been hard at work on a new video game called Freakpocalypse. Hit the jump to hear what they had to tell us in a special interview!

Creators Rob DenBlyker and Mike Salcedo are no strangers to the world of animation. Since their humble beginnings with the hit dark humor comic Cyanide and Happiness, the two have been making readers laugh through various forms of media.

Whether it be a comic, cartoon, or miniseries, there is nothing that the creative duo has not given a shot. Most recently, the new series The Stockholms has been the newest addition to their portfolio, a hilarious series about a bank robber who holds hostages that treat each other like a pretend family.

Now, the duo has brought their talents to the video game world with the new game Freakpocalypse, a point and click adventure, coming to the Nintendo Switch, which has a similar visual style as the South Park games. Recently, we were able to talk to Salcedo and DenBlyker and see what they had to say about their new game!

Make sure to check out the interview and full audio of LiteraryJoe's Inner Child Podcast in the podcast player below! Also, don't forget to share your thoughts on the new game in the comments below!

Literary Joe: So I'm curious. Do you guys look to any other animations for inspiration for The Stockholms?

Mike Salcedo: I know for me there were two things I looked at really closely as far as the short-form storytelling, which was a cartoon I think Rob showed me years and years ago. The House of Cosbys by Justin Roiland, that's just like a weird scenario show, three-minute episodes just about.

And the other show was Zombie College, which came out back in 2000, written by Eric Kaplan of The Simpsons and directed by John Rice, who is also from The Simpsons. And yeah, it was just a couple of shows that had really weird concepts, and they had to rock through their stories through about ten three-minute episodes and create arcs between episodes, there's continuity.

And so I wanted to get as much continuity as I could with such a short framework. Cause there's not really any time to establish something in a single episode.

Rob DenBleyker: Yeah. I think that's an upside too cause speaking personally, if I'm watching something on YouTube, I think I'm more likely to watch a three-minute video than a 10-minute video. I think it almost works in our favor to have these little tiny bite-sized episodes that are just super dense with jokes, but they're very like in and out of the story.

Mike Salcedo: Yeah, no, I'll watch a two or three-minute thing three times before I watch a nine-minute thing.

Literary Joe: Can you tell me a little bit about Explosm itself?

Rob DenBleyker: Yeah, sure. Explosm was the business we started when we realized that Cyanide and Happiness was becoming more than just a hobby back in 2008, 2009. So we started a business to encapsulate everything we were working on and not just Cyanide and Happiness.

So since then, it's become a lot of things. It's an animation studio that produces a short every week on YouTube, and we also do daily comics. We've produced a couple of card games, and now we're working on a video game. So it's this kind of umbrella organization that we've built that we operate in Dallas.

Literary Joe: Nice, and I read a little bit about the Cyanide and Happiness video game that's coming out. Can you tell us anything about that?

Rob DenBleyker: Yeah. It's coming out towards the end of Summer. We don't have an exact date yet, but it's called Freakpocalypse. It's a point and click adventure game set in the Cyanide and Happiness universe.

So you play a high schooler as the main character trying to navigate the apocalypse that's full of Cyanide and Happiness characters, references, and storylines. So it's very much in the same vein as Monkey Island, King's Quest, it's just solving puzzles and enjoying like a single-player story.

Literary Joe: Which consoles is it going to be for?

Rob DenBleyker: Yeah, so far, it's coming out on PC and the Nintendo Switch on day one. Other consoles are still considering it, but nothing is locked down yet.

Literary Joe: Was there anything else about any of your other projects you wanted me to include?

Rob DenBleyker: Yeah. I mean, people should check out our new card game Trial by Trolley, it's a card game version of The Trolley Problem where you have to choose left or right and run somebody over, it's a super fun game, lots of arguing. That's in stores now. It's on Amazon and Target.

And then other than that, yeah, we're still making a cartoon every week. So I would suggest if you haven't watched the Cyanide and Happiness in a while, it's a good time to catch up.
