Thanks to GamingBolt, we got some words from the associate creative director of the game, Chadi El-Zibaoui. He said microtransactions will be in the game but it will be for cosmetic purposes only. There will be no pay-to-win nonsense here, players will not have to spend money to get more out of the game.
However, a hot topic when it comes to microtransactions in-game are loot boxes. One of the most popular games out there right now, Overwatch, uses these. El-Zibaoui didn't mention anything on this matter.
“For now we’re keeping the same strategy as the first game: It’s all about vanity. We really want Division 2 to be a fair experience for everyone. Now regarding loot boxes I can’t comment about those at the moment,” he said.
El-Zibaoui also commented on the "meat" of the game. What will The Division 2 focus on? Many games have great openings, like the first few missions and other games have great side missions where you can spend hours on. The Division 2 will shine when it comes to the end-game.
“End-game is very important for us since the very beginning of the development,” Chadi El-Zibaoui – Associate Creative Director said to GamingBolt in an exclusive interview. “We’ve learned a lot from more than the two-years of life, looking at how the community was playing the game in their feedback. So we really have put end-game at the heart of the conception. Now there will be some twists that I can’t tell you about for now. But the specialization is already something that is really going to add depth when you engage in the end-game.”
Personally, I hope lootboxes don't make it into this game. End-game, raids and microtransactions are enough to make players dive into the game and spend their free time on. What do you make out of this?
