At Minecon 2018, Mojang announced
Minecraft: Dungeons. The new game, which is being created by a small team and originally started as a passion project, is a re-imagining of
Minecraft as a "completely different experience" - an action-adventure game inspired by classic dungeon crawlers.
Minecraft: Dungeons takes the blocky aesthetics and combat mechanics of the core
Minecraft game and turns it into an adventure game. Like your typical dungeon crawler, you'll explore environments, fight monsters, find treasures, and discover new weapons and items to help you defeat more powerful mobs you encounter.
Minecraft: Dungeons can be played solo or with up to four players, with multiplayer offering tougher enemies for better rewards. The game will introduce new locations set in environments never before seen in the
Minecraft universe, as well as new mobs - and boss mobs - that are unique to the game.
Minecraft: Dungeons will release for PC in 2019. It will hopefully arrive on consoles at some point in the future as well.
