The Uncharted movie has now been through quite a few writers and directors (and even a couple of possible leading men), but things are finally looking good for this adaptation thanks to Sony hiring Joe Carnahan to write the latest draft of the screenplay. The filmmaker's next directing gig is going to be Bad Boys 3, but with that set to begin shooting next year, will he also end up helming Uncharted?
"In a perfect world I would love to do both, but right now, I’m only on board to write the script," he confirmed to Variety, adding that the only way he could do both projects is if Sony pushes production on Uncharted back to give him enough time. As for what interests him about the property, Carnahan added: "Archaeology today is in itself an antiquity, but that world has always fascinated me. Especially when you go to a museum today and wonder how a piece got there to begin with. Plus, the property itself is so popular that it was hard to turn down an opportunity to work on it."
Since the news broke, Carnahan has taken to Twitter to promise fans - who have been unsure about a movie version of Uncharted ever since it was first announced - that he won't let them down.
