The Chosen One will join the
Star Wars: Battlefront II roster on Wednesday, EA has announced. The arrival of Anakin Skywalker won't be the only feature of the
Chosen One patch, as DICE will also update the Galactic Republic clone Appearances, including changes to legion Appearances, the option to play as an armored Officer, and a re-implementation of how clone trooper classes are visually identified.
While Obi-Wan's former apprentice will become playable on February 27, 2019, he won't be consumed by vengeance just yet. “
The Anakin we’re bringing to Battlefront II is still on the light side, meaning that we don’t want his anger to show explicitly in the lightsaber combat animation. We rather want to give hints on how it lingers just below the surface,” Animator Mattias Kirsten explained.
“
One way of doing that is having his attacks being slightly wide. In some cases, his lightsaber is even hitting the floor, making sparks fly. So, he performs this very practiced and controlled move, but it’s slightly off-balanced, giving us a peek into how his passion and emotions affect his style,” he added.
Last month’s
Darth Tyranus update introduced us the ex-Jedi turned menacing Sith lord, Count Dooku, and the Genosis map in the Blast, Heroes vs. Villains, and Custom Arcade modes, so it looks like DICE is taking it easy in February, focusing more on polishing the game's old mechanics than brining new ones.
Without further ado, be sure to take a closer look at Anakin Skywalker in a short teaser down below:
