Video games are about to get a bit more undead attitude, with a new hack and slash title that includes cowboy hats, katanas, and zombies! Surprisingly its not The Walking Dead but the hit game Onee Chanbara Origin, which is the latest in a hack and slash franchise that has been around since 2004.
The story of the series revolves around the adventures of a young girl who, while in a cowboy hat, cuts through hordes of ravenous undead with her sister while encountering various other young ladies with their own style and skills. The most recent game released in Japan this past December but has since had no word on an official western release until now.
According to D3 Publisher, the title is finally seeing a western release coming this October, just in time for Halloween! To celebrate, a brand new gameplay trailer was released for fans in the west to check out what is coming!
Will you be picking up a copy of the new game? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments, and don't forget to check out the new trailer below!
The Beat 'em up gameplay involves the player controlling Aya, a scantily-clad cowgirl who wears a scarf and wields a katana. The player is pitted against hordes of zombies and nightmarish boss creatures, who spill torrents of blood when they are attacked. Aya is often accompanied on her adventures by several other warrior women, such as her younger sister Saki, who appears in most titles in the series.
Onee Chanbara Origin hits Playstation 4 and Steam on October 14th!
