Universal Studios Japan has announced that the Super Nintendo World has officially opened in Osaka. The garnd opening kick off with quite a bash and the folks over at Universal were kind enough to share some highlights with us (video below) so that we can celebrate with them!

The theme park area brings to life some of Nintendo's legendary worlds, characters and adventures and gives guests the opportunity to play inside of their favorite Nintendo games.

Creator of Super mario, Shigeru Miyamoto, was on hand to kick off the festivities, as well as President and CEO of Universal Studios Japan, J.L. Bonnier. The celebration began at Super Star Plaza with popular characters Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and Toad, as well as Super Nintendo WOrld team members. All of which were cheered on by guests attending the momentous occassion.

Super Nintendo World is the first multi-level land at Universeal Studios Japan, thanks to Peach's Castle and Bowser's Castle, both of which tower over the area. It features rides and attractions themed after Mario Kart and Yoshi and even features dining, shops, and plenty of other experiences that can only be found at Universal Studios Japan. There's even a Mario Kart racing course!

Guests are able to purchase Power-Up Bands while visiting that sync to their smartphones to track their scores and compete against other guests. Guests can even collect keys and character stamps during the rather dynamic activities.
