Apple Arcade, the video game subscription service for Apple mobile devices, has added seven new games to its catalog to kick off the new year.
Skate City: New York, Gears & Goo, Three Kingdoms Heroes, Final Fantasy+, Trials of Mana+, Rodeo Stampede+, and It’s Literally Just Mowing+ are all available to play for anyone who subscribes to Apple Arcade.
Perhaps the biggest title on the list, Final Fantasy+ is a remodeled 2D take on the first game in the iconic and beloved Final Fantasy series. Featuring updated retro 2D pixel graphics, the game also includes improved ease-of-play options such as a modernized UI and auto-battle options. It also supports gamepad controls for those who are not fans of mobile touch controls. For those unfamiliar with the original, the story description reads:
Earth, fire, water, wind... The light that once shone within the four Crystals was lost. Darkness covered the land, until the only hope for humanity rested in legends past. Become the Warriors of Light and embark on your own journey to restore power to the Crystals and save the world.
Trials of Mana+ is another Square Enix game, and a mobile port of the hit action RPG. The game features an overlapping story of interwoven destinies that change based on which of the six main characters you choose to begin your adventure with. The story description teases:
When the world was shrouded in darkness, the Goddess of Mana drew forth the Sword of Mana to smite the eight Benevodons, monsters of destruction. She sealed the horrors inside the eight Mana Stones, bringing the realm back from the brink.
Weak from rebuilding the world, the Goddess changed into a tree and fell fast asleep for years. However, the forces of evil sought to free the Benevodons to gain control of the world. They started a terrible war to further their plot and destabilize the kingdoms. Peace was at an end.
Mana itself began to disappear from the world and the Mana Tree to wither...
Among the other games on the list, Skate City: New York is described as the "ultimate skateboarding experience." The latest addition in the Skate City series features takes you to the streets of New York City, where you can pull off hundreds of tricks in famous, real-world spots.
Gears & Goo is an action title playable through Apple Vision Pro. Combining elements of towere defense and classic base-building games, you control an army of Sodarians in a dynamic battle for territory.
Apple Arcade will also add three more games to its extensive library in just a few weeks. PGA TOUR Pro Golf, Apple Arcade’s first officially licensed PGA TOUR game, platforming adventure game Doodle Jump 2+, and adorable farming simulator My Dear Farm+ will all be available starting February 6th.
Apple Arcade is available for an affordable $6.99 per month in the U.S. on an individual subscription plan. It's also included with Apple One's Individual ($19.95), Family ($25.95), and Premier ($37.95) monthly plans.
