Mobile game maker Kabam has once again teamed up with Disney on an all-new action role-playing game, Disney Mirrorverse. Unfortunately, there wasn't a whole lot shared other than a teaser image of what looks like the portal leading to this so-called Mirrorverse, an alternate reality where Disney and Pixar characters have been exclusively crafted and imagined.
Like most Disney mobile games, players will assemble a team of "evolved and amplified versions of classic Disney and Pixar characters" and battle to defend the Mirrorverse from an evil threat. Not much is known about the game thus far, but it promises to be a "visually stunning adventure."
“Disney Mirrorverse represents a brave reimagining of iconic Disney and Pixar characters and stories, and we’re delighted to be working with Kabam to bring this original universe to life for players,” said Sean Shoptaw, SVP, Games and Interactive Experiences at Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. “This stunning new adventure will appeal to Disney fans and die-hard RPG fans alike, and we can’t wait to show players what’s on the other side of the Stellar Mirror.”
Given Kabam's track record in the mobile space — workin with the likes of Disney/Marvel (Marvel Contest of Champions), Hasbros (Transformers: Forged to Fight), and Universal (Fast & Furious 6: The Game) — we can probably expect AAA quality.
No release date has been announced, but the game is planning to enter into beta soon, starting first in the Phillippines. Those outside of the Phillippines can visit the game's official website and sign up to receive future updates. Hopefully it won't be like Marvel Super War and actually release globally.
The announcement of Disney Mirrorverse comes on the heels of the release of another mobile game, Disney Sorcerer's Arena. The turn-based RPG from Glu is another hero collective game where players assemble a team from the vast catalog of Disney characters.
