Google isn't waiting until E3 to share their big gaming news. Looking to get a jump on the competition, the tech giant will be hosting its own livestream this Thursday, June 6, that will be dedicated to detailing its Stadia game streaming platform.
First revealed back in March, Stadia is Google's vision for the future of gaming. It's a cloud service that allows you to play games via streaming on any supported devices. It's not a console per se, it's a service that requires internet connection to play games across multiple devices, including laptops, dekstops, and select phoens and tablets. Google Stadia removes the need for a traditional console, and allows you to play where in when you want with no updates or downloads required.
Stadia boasts the ability to play games up to 4K HDR at 60 frames per second, but that will depend on your bandwidth. That, of course, is the big question surrounding Google Stadia and other competitors, like Microsoft's Project xCloud. Google Stadia will be its own controller that connects to supported devices, including other consoles, via WiFi.
No doubt Google Stadia was impressive upon its reveal, supporting games like
Assassin's Creed Odyssey and
Doom Eternal, but there are still plenty of questions. It seems like many of these — launch info, pricing, first-party and third-party supported games, and more — will be detailed during Stadia Connect on Thursday, June 6.
Stadia Connect will kick off on Thursday, June 6 at 9:00 a.m. PDT.
