Harry Potter: Wizards Unite released for both iOS and Android devices back in June. The Niantic-developed game was looking to be the
Pokémon GO of the
Harry Potter franchise. However, the mobile game didn't prove to be near as much a hit as the aforementioned
Pokémon game —
more on that here.
Regardless of
Harry Potter: Wizards Unite, Warner Bros. are yet again looking to bring their fantasy franchise to the world of mobile gaming.
Harry Potter: Magic Awakened is being developed by NetEase and will take place a few years after the Second Wizarding World War, when the player receives a letter of acceptance from Hogwarts.
"In the game, as the player grows, players can learn new spells, get to know more outstanding companions, and use their magic knowledge to design unique strategies and spell combinations. Master the technique and timing of the spell release to deal with the increasingly difficult trials and the increasingly stimulating wizard matchups," says the game's official description.
According to insider
Daniel Ahmad,
Harry Potter: Magic Awakened will be a role-playing card game — most likely akin Blizzard Entertainment's
Hearthstone. Is you're a resident of China,
you can pre-register for the mobile game now. We can only hope that
Harry Potter: Magic Awakened will make the jump to the West.
Harry Potter: Wizards Unite combines content and characters you know and love from both the original Harry Potter series and the Fantastic Beasts films in a unique Wizarding World experience. It’s up to you to ready your wand, prepare your potions, brush up your spells and help prevent The Calamity from exposing the secrets of the wizarding world.
Harry Potter: Wizards Unite is now available for iOS and Android devices.
