Since the console release of Kingdom Hearts III, back in January of 2019, fans have finally experienced the conclusion to Xehanort's story. However, in classic Kingdom Hearts fashion, this did not mean the end for the famous antagonist.
Beginning in January of last year, a lot of buzz was circling around an idea titled "Project Xehanort." This project would feature a new prequel game for the character, on the mobile platform. Project Xehanort was later revealed to be Kingdom Hearts: Dark Road.
The game tells the story of the early years of the character, during his days as a keyblade wielder. Using the same visual style as Kingdom Hearts Union χ [Cross], the game changes up the combat a bit, using a card type of combat system.
Initially, the game was intended to release a lot earlier in the year; however, the COVID-19 pandemic forced the game to be delayed to a date that had not officially been announced. Well, now it looks like the release date has been revealed and is a lot sooner than expected!
Thanks to Square Enix, a new trailer was revealed for the upcoming mobile game that announced the official release date of the game for this June! Fans will finally be able to learn about the early years of the character, from their phone. Make sure to check out the new trailer and share your thoughts in the comments!
Kingdom Hearts: Dark Road will release in iOS, Android, and Amazon on June 22nd!
