The Pokémon Company has officially announced the global release of a brand-new expansion for the Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket app. Titled Celestial Guardians, this latest update is set to launch worldwide on April 30th, 2025, bringing with it an exciting lineup of collectible cards, powerful new Pokémon, exclusive missions, and limited-time rewards.

Check out the official trailer for the expansion down below:

Discover Alola with Celestial Guardians

Inspired by the Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon video games, Celestial Guardians brings over 200 new cards into the digital fold, including appearances from Legendary Pokémon Solgaleo and Lunala, who take center stage on the expansion’s digital booster packs. Trainers will also encounter the Alola region’s first partner Pokémon: Rowlet, Litten, and Popplio among many fan-favorites making their digital debut on the app.

This new expansion introduces not only more Pokémon ex cards but also the first immersive Supporter card, adding greater variety and interactivity to gameplay. Players can obtain cards by opening booster packs or utilizing the wonder pick feature, a mechanic that enhances the thrill of pack collecting with random surprises.

To complement the release, beginning May 1st, players will be able to show off their prized cards with newly released accessories, including a binder cover and display board featuring Rowlet with art that gives a nod to Alola’s lush and vibrant aesthetic and enviroments.

Special Drop Event and Missions Celebrate TCG Pocket's Half-Year Milestone

In celebration of Pokémon TCG Pocket’s half-year anniversary, a special Drop Event will run from April 30 at 06:00 a.m. UTC to May 13 at 05:59 a.m. UTC. During this event, players can take on solo battles and earn exclusive promo cards, including a powerful version of Rayquaza ex.

To add even more excitement, special missions will run from April 30 to May 29, giving players an opportunity to unlock a different Rayquaza ex promo card, as well as other unique accessories and rewards. This is a rare chance for collectors and battlers alike to grab limited-time items while enhancing their decks.

Whether you're a seasoned Pokémon TCG Pocket player or new to the mobile TCG experience, Celestial Guardians and the upcoming events mark an exciting time to dive in. With legendary Pokémon, new mechanics, and immersive collectibles, this expansion promises to be a highlight in the app’s first year.
