We'd heard rumblings that he may be in the mix but it's now been confirmed that Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds will voice the titular character in live-action Pokemon movie, Detective Pikachu.
He now headlines a cast which also includes Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) and Kathryn Newton (Supernatural). Goosebumps director Rob Letterman will be at the helm, while the script was written by Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls) and Nicole Perlman (Captain Marvel). Shooting is expected to begin in mid-January and a release date of May 10th, 2019 has been confirmed.
Not much is known about the movie but it's thought that Reynolds will utilise motion-capture of some sort and that the story will revolve around the father of Smith's character being kidnapped. That's where Detective Pikachu comes into play and Newton will play a "sassy" journalist who joins them on this adventure. Are you guys excited for the movie or do you think it's destined to be a flop?
