The Pokémon Company International unveiled today the first trailer for the newest
Pokémon feature film -
Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us. Heading to select theaters later this year, the animated film follows Ash and Pikachu as they defend a quiet seaside town from destruction in a heartwarming story that
"illustrates the value of teamwork and putting aside each other's differences."
As you'll see in the trailer below, the movie offers all of the signature
Pokémon elements, including thrilling battles, as Ash and Pikachu join forces with a diverse new cast of characters. The movie is set during a festival celebrating the Legendary Pokémon Lugia.
Every year, the townspeople gather to celebrate the Legendary Pokémon Lugia, who brings the wind that saved the town from destruction many years ago. The festival is a time for celebration, with a Pokémon Catching Race and a ceremonial flame burning brightly to summon Lugia. But when a series of incidents threatens not just the festival, but all the people and Pokémon who call the town home, it's going to take more than just Ash and Pikachu to save the day. Will these people be able to put aside their differences and work together to rescue their town? Or will it all end in destruction?
Based on the globally popular brand, the upcoming movie will receive a limited theatrical release this holiday season in partnership with Fathom Events.
Pokémon the Movie: The Power of Us will be shown in select participating theaters on November 24, 26, and 28, as well as December 1. More information on the participating theaters, screening dates, and ticket availability will be shared soon.
