Bandai Namco has made an announcement that may have some fans of the Saint Seiya series — also known as Knights of the Zodiac — somewhat excited, as they have revealed that Saint Seiya: Shining Soldiers will become available for iOS and Android devices this year.

Saint Seiya: Shining Soldiers is a battle strategy role-playing game that features will see players building up their Cosmo and using it to unleash their Seventh Sense arts, much like on Masami Kurumada's original Saint Seiya manga and anime.

While this may not be the Saint Seiya experience that most fans of the series would've wanted, it is important to note that Shining Soldiers is actually a free game with in-app microtransactions, and after the abysmal reviews that the new Netflix show has been getting, it is great to see the original series getting the love it rightfully deserves.

The quintessential Saint Seiya experience, brought to you with the highest quality in smartphone gaming history! Become the most powerful warrior in Saint Seiya Shining Soldiers!

Saint Seiya: Shining Soldiers will become available for iOS and Android devices on the 23rd of April.
