Deadline is reporting that actress Hannah John-Kamen best known as Dutch in
Killjoys and Viva in the West End musical
Viva Forever has joined the cast of MGM & WB's upcoming film adaptation of Tomb Raider. The site reports that she'l lbe playing a character that sounds an awful lot like Samantha "Sam" Nishimura from teh recent 2013 reboot from Crystal Dynamics. However, while the film is drawing heavily from the well-received reboot, the few details that have been revealed about the project have already confirmed that the film is not a 1-for-1 reimagining.
In additon to Killjoys and Viva Forever, John-Kamen has also appeared on HBO's Game of Thrones and has a lead role as Aech in Ready Player One.
ABOUT TOMB RAIDER 2018
SYNOPSIS: Seven years after her father disappears, a 21-year-old Lara Croft has refused to take the reins of his global business empire, instead working as a bike courier in London while taking college classes. Eventually she becomes inspired to investigate her father’s disappearance and travels to his last-known location: a tomb on an island somewhere off the coast of Japan.
Suddenly, the stakes couldn’t be higher for Lara, who—against the odds and armed with only her sharp mind, blind faith and inherently stubborn spirit—must learn to push herself beyond her limits as she journeys into the unknown. If she survives this perilous adventure, it could be the making of her, earning her the name tomb raider.
