Recently,
an action-packed, new promo for the Sonic the Hedgehog movie was released. While brief, this promo featured a bit of new footage and also a fun reference to Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. The titular speedster seemingly first appears in our world and the first questions he asks are:
"Where am I? What year is it? Is The Rock president?"
Even more recently, Johnson took to social media to comment on the namedrop. It turns out that the wrestler-turned-actor is a big fan of
Sonic the Hedgehog, having played it back when he was in college.
"So crazy I used to love playing Sonic in college," Johnson tweeted in response.
"Many moons later this... life can be so damn wildly unpredictable and surrel at times."
This is sure to bring smiles to faces. Particularly, voice-actor Ben Schwartz replied to Johnson's tweet with mention of how heartwarming it is to know. Schwartz, who voices the titular speedster in the film, then joked that he will reach out to the animation department and see if they can cook up an outfit for Sonic based on The Rock's infamous look.
