The Game Awards hasn't only revealed a brand new Star Wars video game from Quantic Dream — more on that here — but also the first official trailer for the upcoming sequel to the Sonic the Hedgehog movie.
Based on the video game franchise of the same name, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 sees Jim Carrey reprise the role of Dr. Robotnik, James Marsden and Tika Sumpter reprise the roles of Tom and Maddie Wachowski, and Ben Schwartz return at the voice of titular blue blur. Jeff Fowler directs. The video game movie sequel is set to arrive in theaters on April 8th, 2022.
This instalment introduces the characters of Knuckles and Tails, voiced by Idris Elba and Colleen O'Shaughnessey respectively. Dr. Robotnik returns with a new plan to conquer the world with, what he calls the source of ultimate power, the Master Emerald. The nefarious egghead brings with him a new foe who seems to be a match for Sonic's power: Knuckles.

The world’s favorite blue hedgehog is back for a next-level adventure in SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2. After settling in Green Hills, Sonic is eager to prove he has what it takes to be a true hero. His test comes when Dr. Robotnik returns, this time with a new partner, Knuckles, in search for an emerald that has the power to destroy civilizations.
