September of last year saw the announcement of
Free Guy, an upcoming sci-fi comedy starring Ryan Reynolds. Now two more popular actors have joined the cast. According to a recent report by
Deadline, both Taika Waititi and Utkarsh Ambudkar will feature in the 20th Century Fox film.
Details regarding their roles haven't yet been revealed. Thus far we're only familiar with Reynolds' role - that being
"A bank teller stuck in his routine discovers he’s a background character in a rather brutal open world, action-adventure video game and he is the only one capable of saving his world."
Waititi is best known for his comedic direction with his most prominent films being
Thor Ragnarok,
What We Do In The Shadows and
Hunt for the Wilderpeople. Ambudkar is known for starring in
The Mindy Project as well as the
Pitch Perfect franchise - he will also feature in Disney's live-action remake of
Mulan.
The cast will also feature Joe Keery (
Stranger Things), and Jodie Comer (
Killing Eve), and Lil Rel Howery (
Get Out). Shawn Levy, the showrunner of
Stranger Things and former director of the
Uncharted movie, is attached to direct. Matt Lieberman and Zak Penn are responsible for the script. Producers include Reynolds and Levy themselves as well as Greg Berlanti and Sarah Schechter.
