While the release date of
Trine 4: The Nightmare Prince is still a mystery, IGN has released over 10 minutes of all-new gameplay footage from the upcoming Frozenbyte platforming extravaganza.
In
Trine 4, the player has a chance to play as the returning characters from the original trilogy – Amadeus the Wizard, Pontius the Knight, and Zoya the Thief – who embark on a dangerous journey to save the titular hero's soul, as he suffers from intensely dark dreams due to his magical talents.
According to the developers, they "
have rekindled our love for the franchise, heard and seen the fan feedback and our hearts are set on exceeding those expectations," so there's hope that the studio won't repeat their mistakes made during the works on
Trine 3: The Artifacts of Power that failed to merge the classic 2,5D style of gameplay with a modern approach to designing platforming in full 3D.
