At Gamescom, Daedalic Entertainment and developer gameXcite unveiled Star Trek Voyager: Across the Unknown, a story-driven survival strategy game inspired by the iconic series.

Set in the uncharted Delta Quadrant, Star Trek Voyager: Across the Unknown puts players in command of the U.S.S. Voyager as it makes the perilous journey home. Gameplay combines exploration, ship and resource management, roguelite elements, and meaningful decision-making that will shape both the fate of the crew and the configuration of the U.S.S. Voyager itself. The result is dozens of "what-if" scenarios that unfold throughout the journey, with each playthrough offering a different experience based on the path taken through the quadrant and the decisions you make along the way.

Players will take command of the U.S.S. Voyager across 12 expansive sectors of the Delta Quadrant, managing ship systems, guiding the crew, and balancing diplomacy with tough moral choices. Iconic characters from the series will return, but their fates, and the course of Voyager’s journey, will be shaped entirely by the decisions you make as Captain.

The trailer provides just a glimpse of Star Trek Voyager: Across the Unknown gameplay, but a press release makes note of deep ship management and research, including repairing and restoring parts of the ship, securing life support and energy supplies, managing ship systems and crew quarters, and researching new technologies. Exploration will include scanning celestial bodies to locate precious resources that will help fuel the journey home. And, of course, we can expect combat both in space and on away missions.

Star Trek Voyager: Across the Unknown is a story-driven survival strategy game in which the fate of the iconic starship is in your hands. Take the helm, manage the ship and resources, and make difficult decisions. Will you be able to bring home the ship and its crew?

“Star Trek Voyager: Across the Unknown is a project driven by passion—both for storytelling and for the legacy of Star Trek,” said Jonas Hüsges, COO at Daedalic Entertainment. “We’re excited to bring the U.S.S. Voyager crew back into the spotlight in a way that feels true to canon while offering new narrative frontiers to explore.”

“As lifelong fans of Star Trek, we’re thrilled to contribute to this iconic universe,” added Daniel Bernard, Game Director at gameXcite. This game isn’t just about nostalgia—it’s about giving players the conn and letting them chart their own course through the unknown.”

It’s been over two decades since Voyager first aired, but the show remains a fan favorite, making the arrival of a brand-new game set in its universe an exciting surprise.

Star Trek Voyager: Across the Unknown is currently in development for PC and consoles. There's no release date yet, but it is available to Wishlist on Steam, which suggests it may be coming sooner rather than later.
