Ever since its debut episode launched back in October, Dispatch has taken the episodic adventure genre by storm. Case in point in how successful it's been, developer AdHoc has openly said that it reached its three-year sales goal in just three months. Frankly, the success isn't too shocking, with a solid cast and even more solid writing, the game managed to capture an audience who enjoyed the narrative adventures similar to games made by Telltale.
Among the things you can expect, though, AdHoc gives you a personality test of sorts to see the type of character your protagonist is. Most of the time, players will find themselves with a Robert that's described as "an everyman" or "an anti-hero." The thing is, one of them is so hard to get that Herman's confimred no one has gotten so far, based on backend statistics they have access to.
When discussing the stats with Eurogamer, he kept pretty tight-lipped about this super rare game-state beyond basically saying that you've gotta be perfect when it comes to your gameplay and non-RNG elements, as well as confirming that it was made to be difficult on purpose. If we had to guess, we'd assume it's some sort of proper "superhero" game-state.
There is a catch, though, as someone could've gotten the game-state as Herman also conceded there is a chance someone has gotten the game-state but Dispatch hasn't detected the efforts due to a potential bug. Now, they think no one has ever done the requirements due to its difficulty, but frankly, it would be kinda funny if a bug has led to the game's one hidden game-state to be shielded from players because the team just thought players weren't gonna do it.
We suspect it probably is a bug, as so many people have been playing the game and it's wild to think that of the over two million copies sold, not one of them has gotten that hidden game-state yet.
Full statement:
"At the end of the game, we did a little personality test thing, where it's like, 'your Robert was an everyman', based on how you played the game. Or 'your Robert was an anti-hero'.
There's actually... I've only seen three show up, and there's four. We know the fourth one is actually really hard to get, intentionally. That's just a piece of content I have never seen, and we have stats on the back-end that show that maybe no one's ever gotten it.
It's based on gameplay performance. Have you perfected the game, essentially, is what that is. I don't know that anyone's done that. We focused it on the non-RNG elements."
