Today, Focus Home Interactive has announced that
A Plague Tale: Innocence has gone gold ahead of its May 14 release date, meaning that development is complete and the title is ready for manufacturing.
In
Innocence, you play as siblings Amicia and Hugo as they struggle through the heart of the ruthless world of 14th century France plagued by the Black Death. According to the first reactions to the game, it can be easily described as 2019's
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice. Just like Ninja Theory, Asobo Studio focuses more on the game's story, main characters, and clever worldbuilding rather than stretching the core experience out by adding unnecessary game modes and moderately popular features.
Considering that the ruined world of
A Plague Tale looks incredibly beautiful despite its ruthlessness, the fact that the upcoming game's score was created by Olivier Deriviere, the award-winning composer responsible for the acclaimed soundtracks of the 2008
Alone in the Dark reboot,
Remember Me, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag — Freedom Cry, Get Even, and
Vampyr is just the cherry on top.
With
A Plague Tale: Innocence going gold, there's a chance that the publisher won't be forced to delay the title from its current release date, so be sure to check out its story trailer to make the wait easier:
