Publisher Microids has revealed that the classic Asterix & Obelix XXL video game is getting a remastered version, which has been revealed to be currently in development for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC.
Asterix & Obelix XXL Romastered is being developed by OSome, and is expected to hit store shelves in Europe this October — on Thursday the 22nd, to be more precise — bringing with tit the same non-stopping action the original game brought to the table back in the day.
The original Asterix & Obelix XXL was released for the PlayStation 2, Nintendo GameCube, and PC all the way back in 2003, and was developed by defunct Europe-based developer Étranges Libellules. While the game was received poorly, Asterix & Obelix XXL got a sequel the next year; ever since, the series has been pretty much dead.
As per publisher Microids' official description of Asterix & Obelix XXL Romastered, the game will feature the kind of enhanced graphics that are expected from current-gen titles, although players will still be able to switch between the old and new graphics at will.
Asterix & Obelix XXL Romastered will also feature two brand-new game modes, new gameply, a new, and better camera, as well as reworked animations to give players the ultimate Asterix & Obelix video game experience.
So far, only the European release date has been revealed. In fact, the game hasn't yet been confirmed to release outside of Europe, so we will have to keep waiting for an official announcement from the developers.
