Balan Wonderworld is a brand-new intellectual property that is developed by Square Enix and created by Yuji Naka and Naoto Ohshima, who video game aficionados will immediately recognise as the creators of Sega's most iconic character/series: Sonic the Hedgehog.
The game was officially announced in July during Microsoft's Xbox Games Showcase, where interesting details about this new title were revealed, and even creators Yuji Naka and Naoto Ohshima shared information about Balan Wonderworld; giving us a first look at the game's beautifully realised, and fantastic world.
Balan Wonderworld was also revealed to release for curent-gen consoles, as well as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X — but we didn't get an official release date for it; with the developers reassuring players that it would launch at some point in Spring of next year.
During today's Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase presentation, Square Enix released a short trailer that showed off gameplay, and revealed some information about the myriad of costumes available in-game; all of which give players some unique abilities.
Square Enix also confirmed that Balan Wonderworld is expected to release for the Nintendo Switch on Friday the 26th of March in 2021. The developer has yet to confirm whether this release date also applies to the other platforms the game is relesing on, so we will have to keep an eye open for updates on the project.
