Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, Koji Igarashi's long-awaited spiritual successor to the
Castlevania series, has finally been released today for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam — with the Nintendo Switch version coming out a week from today .
To celebrate the occasion, 505 Games has released a new trailer for the game, starring Koji Igarashi himself — who reassures us that they have accepted criticism, delivering a game where top quality is prioritized.
The most interesting part of the launch trailer, however, doesn't come until the very end — where it is revealed that Shovel Knight, from Yacht Club Games' insanely popular
Shovel Knight series, will also be joining Miriam and Zangetsu as a playable character.
Shovel Knight is one of the most popular games by an independent developer, and the character has been featured in quite a handful of games since, such as Nicalis'
Blade Strangers, Activision's
Brawlhalla, and even on Nintendo's
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as one of the game's Assist Trophies — so it is nice to see the character getting even more love by being on Igarashi's
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
Check it out:
Play as Miriam, an orphan scarred by an alchemist's curse that slowly crystallizes her body. Battle through a demon-infested castle and defeat its master to save yourself, and all of humanity.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Steam on the 18th of June.
Nintendo Switch version to release on the 25th of June.
