We have some great news for fans of the Alex Kidd series developed by Sega in the mid to late 1980s, as a remake of the very first game has just been announced during the Summer of Gaming event hosted by IGN.
Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX is the name of this brand-new entry in the series, which is now being developed by Merge Games and Janken Team, and is expected to launch at some point in Q1 of 2021 for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PC.
While the developers still haven't confirmed whether the game will also release for Sony and Microsoft's next generation of consoles, chances are that this is, indeed, the case; we will have to wait for more official information, though.
Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX isn't only a prettier version of the classic Sega Master System platformer released in 1986, as it is also introducing brand-new levels, a new boss rush mode, alternative boss fights, and a charming retro mode that allows players to play the game in its classic 8-bit graphics.
The game's designer Josyan took to twitter to express their excitement, and reveal that the development team has been working hard for two years on Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX; thanking those who have supported them from the beginning, and also hoping that players will appreciate all of their hard work.
