Remedy Entertainment, the renowned Finnish studio behind
Max Payne and
Alan Wake, has released an all-new gameplay trailer for their next major project, titled
Control. While that brand-new footage is definitely not very spoiler-heavy, it does add more context to what's happening on the screen and those fantastic superhuman abilities of Jesse Faden, the upcoming metroidvania's main protagonist.
Although
Control takes place in one interconnected building – the Federal Bureau of Control – it's not your ordinary government headquarters. In fact, the Bureau (also known as the Oldest House) contains gates to alternate timelines and dimensions, and after an otherworldly force's attack, they have been completely opened. In the wake of the Bureau's former Director's (played by James McCaffrey, the voice of Max Payne) death, Jesse will not only take over from her late boss but also face the unknown.
As a newly-promoted chief, Jesse will gain access to the Director's transforming Service Weapon (the only gun you'll have to use in
Control) and some pretty spectacular special abilities (including creating massive shields and forcing her enemies to kill each other) to find the way to take back control.
The GamesRadar+ crew has also released their impressions from playing
Control, including some never-before-seen gameplay footage. Be sure to take a closer look at the aforementioned gameplay trailer, GR+'s video, and all the new features you will get for pre-ordering
Control early down below:
After a secretive agency in New York is invaded by an otherworldly threat, you become the new Director struggling to regain Control. This supernatural third-person action-adventure game will challenge you to master a combination of supernatural abilities, modifiable loadouts and reactive environments, while fighting through a deep and unpredictable world.
Control is coming to PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on August 27, 2019.
