During DC FanDome, the developers at Warner Bros. Games Montréal and DC have taken the opportunity to officially release the very first trailer for Gotham Knights — a brand-new game set in the same universe of the critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham series by Rocksteady Studios.
The developers are quick to reveal that Batman is dead, who has left a heartfelt message for the remaining members of the Batman Family, and entrusting them with the huge responsibility to take care of Gotham now that Batman is no longer protecting it.
Gotham Knights will be a co-op game that will give players the chance to play as Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Robin in the most Batman: Arkham fashion, but with every character playing distinctly different from each other; adding a tonne of variety to the game.
It has not yet been specified when this brand-new Batman game will be released, but the developers have reassured fans that it will be available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC at some yet-to-be-determined date in 2021.
If the announcement trailer, for whatever reason, didn't already make you excited for Gotham Knights, the developers have also released almost 10 minutes of gameplay that shows off the game's open world, and see Batgirl joining forces with Robin in order to take on Mr. Freeze — who is only one of the many villains from Batman lore that the Gotham Knights will be facing in the game.
