Gods & Monsters was announced in August of last year by Ubisoft, and it was expected to launch at some point in February of this year. Unfortunately, the developer deemed necessary to indefinitely delay the project in October, and it wasn't until just recently that we learnt new information about the upcoming title.
A few days ago, in fact, it was officially confirmed by Ubisoft that the game was no longer called Gods & Monsters, as the developer had decided to rename it to Immortals: Fenyx Rising; it may not roll off the tongue as nicely, but it is still a decent title.
Ubisoft only revealed the game's new name, but they promised that a full reveal of Immortals: Fenyx Rising would be presented during the Ubisoft Forward presentation next Thursday, where we will likely get a brand-enw trailer, and an official release date; confirmation of a next-gen version of the game is also very plausible.
Recently, new unofficial information may have spoiled Ubisoft's surprise. This information may be unofficial in the sense that Ubisoft didn't announce it, but it is pretty much confirmed since it showed up on Microsoft's website for Immortals: Fenyx Rising.
According to the information posted by Microsoft on Xbox Live, Ubisoft's Immortals: Fenyx Rising will be releasing on Thursday the 3rd of December, and will be supporting Smart Delivery as well — which could also confirm an Xbox Series X version of the game, even when the website doesn't really list the console as compatible; not yet, at least.
Some new screenshots for the game have also managed to make their way online, and it does look like the developers didn't waste any time working on the visuals for Immortals: Fenyx Rising. The art style looks rather similar, but the game definitely looks brighter now.
This is definitely exciting news, but it would still be wise not to consider this information official until Ubisoft reveals more details about Immortals: Fenyx Rising next week.
