One of the most pleasant surprises that fans of the Mafia series could've gotten was actually given to them by 2K Games earlier this year, when the developer officialyl announced the Mafia Trilogy: Definitive Edition, and launched the definitive editions of Mafia II and Mafia III the very next week.
Mafia II: Definitive Edition and Mafia III: Definitive Edition were released in May of this year, but those were actually remastered versions of their original counterparts, while Mafia: Definitive Edition is actually a full-on remake of the very first title in the popular series.
Because Mafia: Definitive Edition is a remake, the developers took a little bit more time to polish some details, and deliver a top quality product that will make fans of the series excited to play — so 2K Games announced that this game in particular will be launching in August.
2K Games eventually revealed that they still needed some extra time to work on the game, and announced that Mafia: Definitive Edition would now be launching on Friday the 25th of September. While it is somewhat disappointing, fans were more than willing to give the developer all the time they need in order to release a great remake.
We are still a bit under a month away from the release of Mafia: Definitive Edition, but 2K Games has decided to update fans on the state of the game by relesing an exciting new gameplay trailer that sees Mafia series main protagonist Tommy Angelo being welcomed to the Family.
Take a look:
Re-made from the ground up, Mafia: Definitive Edition offers a faithful remake of the original's acclaimed story with dramatically improved and expanded visuals and gameplay.
Mafia: Definitive Edition will release for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC(Epic, Steam) on Friday the 25th of September.
