MARVEL's Avengers is among some of the most highly anticipated to release this year, alongside other heavy hitters like Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed Valhalla; both of which will actually be releasing on current-gen and next-gen consoles, but players are mostly excited to play it on their PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
While the Earth's Mightiest Heroes faced criminal organisations like Hydra in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics opted to go for a different group of antagonists that also stem from the comics; we are talking about A.I.M., also known as Advanced Idea Mechanics.
If you happen to be a fan of the comicbooks, or happened to have watched the phenomenal Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes animated series, you're probably familiar with A.I.M. and the villainous M.O.D.O.K, who is actually also going to be the main villain in MARVEL's Avengers — which is something that we just learnt about a month ago.
In fact, just yesterday we got our first official look at M.O.D.O.K, and he looks just as creepy and terrifying as we all expected him to look, so props to the team at Crystal Dynamics who were able to accurately represent this iconic villain from the comics.
For those of you who aren't too familiar with the comics or the many Avengers cartoon series, Marvel Entertainment has shared a behind the scenes video for the soon-to-be-released MARVEL's Avengers, which sees the developers at Crystal Dynamics introducing players to A.I.M., and revealing why they are, most definitely, an Avengers-level threat.
Have a look:
Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.
MARVEL's Avengers will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia on Friday the 4th of September; PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X release date to be determined.
