For those of you who have stuck with Crystal Dynamics' Marvel's Avengers, the game is about to receive it's newest playable character: Jane Foster, aka The Mighty Thor. Although Marvel's Avengers is not at all related to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the timing of Jane Foster's arrival in the game couldn't be more perfect as she's set to appear in the soon-to-be-released Thor: Love and Thunder.
Jane Foster's The Mighty Thor will be available to play as starting today following the free update. She's the 11th playable hero and third flying warrior in the co-op action-RPG.
LIke Odinson, Jane Foster's The Mighty Thor posseses all of the same strength and power with even more precise control of Mjolnir. Ahead of her arrival, Crystal Dynamics has released a War Table Deep Dive into The Mighty Thor, detailing her god-like combat abilities.
Although Jane Foster's transformation into The Mighty Thor originated from the comics written by Jason Aaron, her backstory in Marvel's Avengers is a bit different. Fans will be able to experience it through an electric in-game animatic - Marvel's Avengers - The MIghty Thor: Out of Time - which has been illustrated by veteran Marvel artist Takeshi Miyazawa.
In Marvel’s Avengers Jane is torn from an alternate timeline through a rift in space-time caused by Tachyon Anomalies. In her original timeline, Jane became the Goddess of Thunder when she took up the mantle from Thor, who in his grief gave up Mjolnir after the A-Day tragedy.
Jane Foster is voiced by Zehra Fazel, whose notable voice credits include Young Justice Outsiders, Voltron: Legendary Defender, Bojack Horseman, She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, and more. She's also voiced numerous characters in video games such as Borderlands 3, League of Legends, and more.
In Marvel's Avengers, her alternate Outfits have drawn inspiration from the comics. She also boasts unique Takedowns, Emotes, and more. She'll come with her own Hero Challenge Card and mission chain that allow you to earn special rewards, including exclusive cosmetics and intel documents that delve deeper into Jane's story.
Jane Foster's The Mighty Thor will be available to play as in Marvel's Avengers with today's 2.5 patch. Although she's the 11th character in the game, Crystal Dynamics has no plans to stop with the post-launch content anytime soon. The developer teased the release of two new challenges as part of "an ambition to advance our narrative through hero and villain-centric content." We'll have to wait for more details on that.
