During Sony's State of Play, Capcom surprised us all by announcing the return of Pragmata.
The sci-fi action adventure game was first revealed during the PlayStation 5 showcase all the way back in 2020. It was originally supposed to be released in 2022, then delayed to 2023, and eventually just pushed back indefinitely. But there's been no mention of the game in years.
Capcom confirmed today that not only is the game back, but it's set to release in 2026.
Set in a dystopian near-future, Delphi Corporation has made huge strides with its Lunafilament and advanced generative AI. The result is the ability to create life. But at some point, things probably went wrong. Previous reveals have shown a post-apocalyptic Earth after a major calamitous event with some sort of contorted growths that change and distort reality.
The trailer cuts to our main protagonist, Hugh, being woken up by a mysterious little robot girl named DI0367, but referred to by Hugh as Diana.
The two must work together to survive a lunar base that has been overrun by dangerous AI. The trailer today gives us a glimpse at the action-strategy gameplay in which players must control both Hugh and Diana — at the same time — to overcome various obstacles.
An all-new Science Fiction action adventure with its own unique hacking twist! It is the near future, and protagonists Hugh and his android companion Diana, must work together as they make their way through the cold lunar research station.
"This two-in-one approach, where Hacking is key to your success, is our own unique take on combat that you’ll only find here—in Pragmata," Capcom teased on the PlayStation Blog. "Stay tuned for more details, as we will delve deeper into the combat experience in the near future!"
Pragmata is said to have a 2026 release window, so hopefully that sticks this time. Acknowledging the game's troubled development cycle, Capcom even teased that it is indeed a real game.
It's REAL. PRAGMATA lands on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Steam in 2026!
