September is here which means Prime Gaming members can begin to claim their new batch of free video games. This month's lineup features an incredible lineup of free titles that span The Lord of the Rings franchise as well as Borderlands, and more.

Celebrating the Season 2 premiere of Prime Video's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Prime members can get several free games inspired by the fantasy universe of The Lord of the Rings. This includes Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition, LEGO The Lord of the Rings and LEGO The Hobbit via GOG code, and Middle-earth: Shadow of War on Amazon Luna via the Prime Gaming offer wherever Luna is available.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition is an original story based on the world established by J.R.R. Tolkien. The game takes place between the events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings film trilogies and sees players control a Gondorian Ranger named Talion who bonds with the wraith of an Elf Lord to avenge the deaths of their loved ones.

In addition to The Lord of the Rings, Prime Gaming members can also claim titles from the critically acclaimed Borderlands franchise. Although the recent movie adaptation was a complete bomb, the Borderlands games remain fantastic and now you can get Borderlands 2Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Tales from the Borderlands for free this month via the Epic Games store. The timing couldn't be better as Gearbox just announced that Borderlands 4 will officially launch next year.

While you can already claim Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel from the Epic Games Store, the five-part episodic game that is Tales from the Borderlands won't be available until September 12th.

Available for free on Amazon Luna in the United States (as well as select international countries) this month are Middle-earth: Shadow of War, LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures, Whisker Waters, Super Meat Boy Forever, CleM, XDefiant, Fortnite Battle Royale, Fortnite Festival, Fallout New Vegas: Ultimate Edition, Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition, LEGO Fortnite, Rocket Racing, Fortnite and Trackmania.

Prime Gaming isn't the only place to get free games this month. Sony's monthly PlayStation Plus titles are also available to claim. Free this month on PS5 and PS4 is the recently released Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions as well as MLB: The Show 24, and Little Nightmares 2. All three titles are free for all levels of PlayStation Plus throughout the month of September.
