During the special PlayStation 5 presentation that took place last month, a bunch of developers took the opportunity to reveal some of their next-gen titles; some of which will be exclusive to Sony's console, while others have been confirmed to release on Xbox Series X and PC.
Square Enix was one of those developers who revealed a brand-new intellectual property that is being developed by Hajime Tabata's Luminous Productions, a brand-new studio that was founded in March of 2018, in the form of Project Athia(working title).
As per the official announcement trailer, Project Athia was designed for the PlayStation 5, although Square Enix later revealed that the game isn't an exclusive, as it will also be released on PC. Other than it being an action-adventure, and story driven game, not much information about the upcoming title was shared.
Project Athia, and judging by the trailer alone, looked like it could be an open-world title, although the developers didn't really provide further details. Thankfuly, we have some new information about the game today, which reveals that the game will, indeed, be offer players an open-world experience.
This information was revealed by Square Enix Representative Director Yosuke Matsuda, "The game Project Athia, which we will release for PS5, is an open-world style game in which users can freely move around the game world. PS5 dramatically improves video technology, such as with the implementation of light-reflecting 'ray-tracing' technology."
Project Athia still doesn't have an official release date, so we will have to keep waiting for either Square Enix or Luminous Productions to reveal some more information on this promising action-adventure, open-world title.
